We just have 4days in 2013! A month has already passed since Jay-san and Sioned visited Rikuzentakata city . How was this year for all of you in 2013?
Last weekend, we went to help Sioned Huws workshop in Aomori. The workshop was taken place in Aomori Public University with a lot of snow for 2days and those 2days were amazing. Today I’d like to introduce one of her choreographies which uses participants’ photos. The participants get into the same pose as they did in the photos and get still for a while. They look back the moments that they took the photos in the past; what kind of situation was it? , who were there?, what were they thinking?, while they are still. In fact, it’d be more like a maditation rather than a choreography. If other people see them, nobody is moving but actually their feelings are changing inside. The interesting thing is that change can be her part of choreography itself. According to her idea that some parts of ourselves now consist of each moments of the pictures, she mentioned she could feel her family inside of her by remembering the moments the photos were taken.
This year was the first year for our artist in residence program. Fortunately, we could start this progam with a lot of wonderful meetings and many people’s help. Thank you very much for all of your supports in 2013. In January, we’re finally welcoming all artists in Rikuzentakata city. We’d really appreciate it if you could give us the same warmful support next year as well. Have a happy new year!!!
